Oh, what do you do in the summertime

Whenever we see friends we haven't seen in a little while we always get the question "What have you been doing this summer"? I started to think about that, what have we been doing? I started to look through pictures and thought that I would document with pictures with what we have been up to these past few months.
We went to Knoebles, an amusement park.
We went to an Old Fashion 4Th of July celebration
with the Doylestown cousins.
Jackson trying out horse shoes.
Kelsey mastering the stilts.
Jocelyn polishing off a watermelon wedge.
Bubba and dad taking it all in.
We learned about Native Americans during
a week long camp at a park with friends.
We went on lots of bike rides.
We went to the Philadelphia Eagles training camp.
I think we were the only people there without
Eagles shirts on.
We used our imaginations.
Star Wars meets play-dough.
We played with lots of toys.
We have read countless books and listen to books
on CD. Thank goodness for the library.
Documentation of them getting along:)
We went to the MS Beach Bash.
Each year my doctor's office holds an event
where they educate kids about what it's like
to have MS. The kids love it because they get to
do lots of activities and get prizes.
As part of the education for kids they had various simulations
to show kids like what it feels like to be numb. One of the nurses
was telling Jackson and Jocelyn that one way they could
help their mom is to allow her a little time to herself each day
to rest. The nurse asked both of them if they could do that, and
they both shook their heads no. At least they were being honest.
No false pretenses with those two.It took the nurse off guard
a little bit and she talked to them a little more and asked the
question again, this time getting the answer she was looking for.
We went to the Philadelphia Zoo.
I had to post these monkey pictures
because they just made me laugh.

This is Bryce spotting the monkey in the cage.
The monkey noise is one of the few animal noises
he knows. We heard it a lot that day.
The tiger kept walking back and
forth in front of the glass.
There was a large crowd around the hippo cage and
everyone was excited because they were out and not in
the water. This is what everyone was staring at.
I didn't think it was all that to make a fuss about.
I asked the kids to pick there favorite animal
and I would take their picture next to it.
Jackson chose a snake.
Whose kid is this? I hate snakes.
He is really interested in them right now.
Jocelyn chose a giraffe.
Kelsey chose a kangaroo but I think it was because we were
leaving and hadn't picked one yet.

Grooming the goats.
We visited lots of parks like Smith Memorial, Strawberry Mansion,
Dimmick, Southern Lehigh and Sand Island.
We visited dad at his apartment in Philly that
he'll be at for the next three months.
This picture is mostly to show off Kelsey's awesome hair.
The kids did some crazy dancing.
We went to Wildwood beach in New Jersey with our
favorite Cherry Hill friends the Peterson's.
They were just good sports to come with us even though
their sewer had backed up into their shower.
Kesley was so excited to go the beach.
Jackson digging to China.
Jocelyn built sand castles in the
sand with her friend Addy.
She also proved to be a great seashell finder.
Between the two of us, we found 5 seashells roughly
the size of my hand. People were amazed
that we found them.
Dad helping Bubba to the water.
He loved the ocean.
Bryce literaly rolled in the sand like a dog.
I was thinking of getting a sand box but not
anymore. He pretty much bathed in the sand.
I am still getting sand out of his ears.
We went swimming at the city pool at least
two or three times a week. We went from
pastey white to more of an off white color.
Jocelyn the fish.
We had a hard time getting her out of the pool.
Jackson jumping into the pool and even went down the
blue slide in the background.
Kelsey the pool social butterfly.
"Mom, it's my friend over there".
Said about every little girl who was remotely her age.
I worked on a few sewing projects.
(above is a duvet cover if you couldn't tell)
We went on lots of walks.
We built a garden box and tried our hand at
gardening in PA. We had lots of success with
tomatoes and cucumbers.
After reviewing our summer I now know why I am
so tired and need a vacation from our summer vacation.
We were busy, but we had lots of fun!

Look Who is Walking

On Thursday, July 28, Bryce took his official first steps at our community pool. Each day he takes a few more steps and goes just a little further. Here is a little video I took today of "Bubba on the loose". He still can crawl pretty fast so that is still the preferred method of travel for now. Our little guy has definitely graduated into the toddler category. He recently graduated from occupational therapy and barely qualified for speech because he is doing a whole lot more in the speech area but still throws a major temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way. I think he has learned that from the older kids. Something that I have learned about this kid that I have noticed from birth is you can't make him do anything he doesn't want to do. He will do it when he is good and ready. That makes for a fourth strong-willed child. They must get that from their dad.

Our 9th Anniversary

This year for our anniversary John-David surprised me with a picnic basket dinner and a bike ride to Mauch Chunk lake in Jim Thorpe, PA. He is a bit of a hopeless romantic but don't let him know that I let that little secret out.
This was the picnic dinner. He even had a candle.
This was the start of our trail.
It was a very beautiful ride.
The trail is in the left corner of this picture.
It was lined with magnolia trees. It
reminded me of a picture book.
I am not supporting a mustache these days....
just a shadow from the camera.
We walked down to the lake and when we looked back
we saw this. It looked kind of cool.
It was a really fun bike ride and it was so nice to do it without
little people whining that it was too long of a ride.
There is my hunka hunka burnin' love.
Once again he has spoiled me.
Thanks for 9 years of adventure.
What a ride it's been!
