Memory Lane Tag...You're it

Memory Lane.... the tag that gets everyone involved
Got this from a few friends and I thought I would play the game.

Here's how you play
1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and i had together. it doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember.

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory of you. it's actually pretty funny to the responses. if you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you. If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

I remember you guys moving into the ward and Ben and I were so excited because John David went to the U of U. Then he was a BYU fan (oh well we still liked you.) Then I remember that John David totally remembers me from elementary school and I feel so dumb because I still do not have any recollection of him. Granted we were a grade off so at least I wasn't that rude. I then remember learning that John David's sister went to school with me. It's a crazy small world.

I remember when one summer you decided to have a fake wedding with David P. because you had hit a certain age and you had both decide that you would "get married". It was a great receiption, and the wedding cake you guys made was awesome!

I remember the year we went to Kodachrome for spring break and we went hiking. I was trying to jump up on a rock and sliced my knee open and for some reason I called you over to help and you said, "Why did call me over?" Kind of like "Eeeewwww". Then I acted like a sissy the rest of the hike instead of toughening up. Oh well! Good camping times!

I remember sitting around the fire pit in your backyard, and all the animals you guys had. Also I remember going down to visit you at SUU with Addy and a couple of guys (can't remember their names...Doug? David? anyway...)to waterski.

Okay I'm going to chime in on this one. Kathryn I remember coming to pick John-David up to go down to a BYU game and you had stayed home from work that day. You were watching Dr Phil and I believe the show was something about teenage mothers. I then made a comment, one of those foot in the mouth comments, about you and John-David needing to have a baby. Little did I know you just had a miscarriage and that's why you were at home. Man, I felt really stupid that day.

And now a memory of my good friend John-David. Back when we were 12 I moved into the neighborhood and John-David and I had a little run-in at the community pool. He was telling me what to do and I didn't really care for him bossing me around. We didn't particularly like each other after that. Then a few months later my Dad had extra tickets to a BYU game and we gave some to the Horton's to come with us. Matt Horton chose to bring John-David. I wasn't really happy about that, but from that point on John-David and I became best friends and huge BYU fans! Go Cougs!

No harm done. Since you don't have a blog but you should, I'll leave a comment here. I have a few. I remember on New Year's Eve after the BYU game, John-David and I headed to Cafe Rio which I guess technically would be our first date, and all the guys who watched the game showed up. Second, I remember all the games we went down to Provo, 3 or 4 hours prior to the game mind you, to tailgate. By the way, John-David still wears all those free t-shirts he got at the tailgating party in front of the stadium. Which brings me to the last memory of the BYU vs Airforce game that we drove to Colorado for, 8 hours each way. Nothing says devotion to your team like sharing a smokey hotel room with a guy's friend and his wife. Thanks for the memory.

P.S. That story about the BYU is the same one John-David shares about your BYU bond forming.

I remember the sweet "16" club. or was it sweet "18"... anywho, you get the point. I remember sitting around your living room with Christina and she was so excited to be the president of the club. We just laughed and laughed for hours.
I remember helping your family with the catering business one summer, that was such a riot and I will never forget it! You're family cracks me up.
I remember all of the talks we have had over the years since you have lived away and how much they mean to me. I love that we can go for a while without talking over the phone and then when one of us has a free second we can call and just talk for hours! That means the world to me :)

oh kji-kji, so many memories to choose from. Girls camp philosophies of life being like a fire and love being forever. But catering is first on the list since we spent so many Christmas and summer hours in bbq sauce. So one favorite memory is when I was accidentally hanging myself with an apron and David's help since he pulled my stool out from under me and you tried to save me Robinhood style. Thanks for not letting me die in a meat market. I'm sure Peay would have been mad.

I love that we have been friends for so long and though our lives are so different when we catch up it is as if no time has past. You are a true friend!

You really need a blog so you can post all your pictures from your travels. Anyhow, I remember playing night games and losing your your neighbor Matt but actually he just had gone inside and didn't tell us. Bike rides during the summer is 7-11 and Jobber's Odd Lot where we found a pencil that said, "Dreams really can come true". Driving to Girls camp and listening to Simon and Garfunkel. Making stops at Beaver Nudist Camp. Our many catering memories and you totally owe for saving your life:) Your boyfriend Neils and going to dinner at the Spaghetti Factory. Oh, the memories.

I am so glad we are still in contact and hope we continue to be. Your a great friend Lori.

Sweet "17" club... how could I forget that???
I remembered another one.. who could forget about DISNEYLAND & UNIVERSAL STUDIOS! The best summer ever :) I remember that it took over (2) hours to talk me into going on SPLASH MOUNTAIN. I was such a chicken :) That was such a fun summer and I was glad to share it with you and you're family!

I remember being at a BBQ at your parent's house in SLC (while Bryan and John David were at the U) and the nest in the street lamp lit on fire. We called the fire department and they came in all their glory to put out the little nest fire, which really didn't have a need for the giant fire truck speeding down the road with the lights and sirens blaring. That was pretty crazy.

My first solid memory of you was at enrichment one night someone said something to you about being pregnant and I was so confused. You filled me in. Then someone else asked if you were having your kids that close together on purpose. I don't know if you were serious or just really funny but you then asked, "Does anyone have their kids this close together on purpose?" Either way I thought it was funny. I also remember watching Jackson roll around on the floor in Sunday school and thinking he was such a cute beau!

Kath- I remember us talking Bart into letting us put sponge curlers in is hair. I too remember all the fun nights in your back yard around the fire and the Christina chasing the chicken. And the Noah’s Ark Monster Mash Dance (My first date with Matt) and decorating the storage unit and thinking how cool we were that we had such great catering. You are awesome Kath!

which memory to choose... basically you have been my family away from family:)Medical school wouldn't be nearly as fun without you and your family around to keep me company, talk to, and help me out all the time. I remember when we first moved in you introducing yourselves at church- just as we were about to leave and check out the student ward:) and then inviting us to dinner (quite a relief in that it was August, I was pregnant, and we had no air condition working in our apartment). We had such a good time and stayed almost the entire day laughing and getting to know you guys. I also remember calling you up before Ryan was born, to see if I could hang out with you. You were going to get Jackson's 9 month pictures:)and just let me come along for the ride. I will be sad when we all part our ways next Spring:(

You never cease to amaze me- sometimes I don't want to go anywhere because it just seems like too much work- you on the other hand always seem to be on top of things. You show up on time, looking great, with everything in order.
I will always remember playing pin-the-tail on the donkey at Addie's b-day party because Barbara insisted that we go oldest to youngest. You were first, I was second and then all of the husbands had a turn before any of the other wives. The true benefits of age.:)

One memory that I can think of is the day when I came home from school and you had a brown paper bag over your head jumping around yelling you and Christina have got lice you've got lice. I was so mad. Then a few minutes later you told me just to check in your own hair and low and behold you had lice too where you would use our brush to smooth your sides of your hair and you started bawling. You had it worst then me. So I got the satisfaction of jumping around with a brown paper sack yelling you've got lice, you've got lice. Then one other memory is when I was mad at you I don't know why so I shoved the skateboard into your ankle and you still have the scar!!! The work memories fighting and chasing you around the store with the broom and broke it on your back. I guess you could say these were violent memories, but I guess that is what you get with siblings. We do love each other!!!

My first memory of you is when we went to one of Kim's recipe groups and i gave you a ride. You were telling all about of the things you had done and had been, i was a little intimidated by it all. But over time I discovered that even though you have been and done everything, you are a very nice person and are very humble about it all. The other thing i have noticed about you is how calm you are about everything. Whether your child is getting brain surgery or a crisis in the primary, you take in all in stride. I need to take some lessons from you.

That is really funny that you mention the "scar" because just yesterday my kids were asking how i got that. I told them the story and Jackson says, "She wasn't making good choices". One of my favorite memories of you is when we went on our family trip to Glacier National park and we stopped at a rest stop so dad could could rest. That's when we tied you to a pole and gagged you. That was one of finer family vacation moments. Another fine memory is the years of West Jordan Rodeo. "Would you like a Bronco Burger?" Or another one that comes to mind was when you were 12 and you found an unmentionable article of clothing of mom's and Lisa had to explain you the birds and the bees. You cried and cried. It was pretty funny. Oh, I could go on but just one more. The time you told us that you found out that you were caucasian at the dinner table. I believe you were a junior in high school. That one was a knee slapper. What fun memories.

I'm not sure how we managed this, but when Melissa and I climbed in bed with you and John-David in the middle of the night up at the cabin. And we didn’t know you where in the bed and I’m not sure if you guys knew Melissa and I had climbed in. Yeah that was special!

Oh,about the whole 17 club what was I thinking!! No, what were you guys thinking, to let some 10 maybe 9? little girl form a club with 16 and 17 year olds. You guys were too nice to let me your baby sister tag along. I think dad gave you money to take me most of the time, but whatever!
