When I was in elementary school, New Kids On The Block were in their prime. I never caught quite onto the rage of NKOTB but knew plenty that has. One girl who I rode the bus with thought I was the luckiest girl in the world because I shared the same birthday with Jordan Knight (as if sharing a birthday with someone famous makes you that much closer to them but whatever). By the time I got to college, NKOTB was just a faded memory ...well that was until my sophomore year. I had a certain roommate, who will be left unnamed to protect the innocent, who was obsessed with them. She even had NKOTB sheets on her bed growing up. Well she still liked them and wanted to share her love for them with her other roommates. We had a tradition of watching "Sheik of my dreams", a cartoon with the NKOTB in it on video on Saturday mornings. Well I tell you all this because...... they are back. NKOTB are making a big comeback and after 15 years of being apart, they made their big debut this morning on the Today show.
A lot of things that I grew up with have made big come backs; Strawberry Shortcake, Carebears, jelly shoes, why not the New Kids. My kids seemed to be enjoying them. Jackson was singing his own version of their songs in his underwear on the couch as we watched them. Jocelyn walked into the room and told me, "This is real pretty music." As I watched the 30 something almost all female crowd bawl over the New Kids reuniting and watching my own children dance to the music, I guess the NKOTB do have a chance of making it big again. To all the New Kids fans- Hang Tough!

HA HA!! This is the best blog entry I have EVER read! I love it. I can't wait until our kids catch the NKOTB fever. Seriously how exciting is life? Well, enjoy your last day of 29...30 is lurking around the corner.
okay, so this is kind of random, I don't know if you even would remember me, probably not (no worries, I won't be offended). Any way, I am Marilou Woolstenhulme....we were in Columbus a couple summers back doing the whole security systems thing. We lived in Crosswinds Village (I think that was what it was called). Any way, my daughter is taking a nap so I was checking out some friend's blogs...I was leaving a comment on the blog of a friend in our ward and saw the name "mcbride", I know some mcbrides so I clicked on it to see if it was who I knew, which it wasn't, but then I saw "John-David and Kathryn" and I thought "that sounds familiar" but I couldn't remember from where, so I clicked on it and it led me to your blog. Any way, that was a really long explanation...I hope everything is going well :)
That is hilarious how they got to your blog through mine. Funny. Anyway, I sent you an email 2 days late wishing you a happy birthday. Did you have a good day? Maybe you should blog it.
Oh my! I can't believe they are back either. I never caught the fever myself back at good old Oakwood elementary, but I remember a few fans amoung our classmates. So funny!
